READING THE COLONY

Family Time Game: how the systems connect

A guide to the announced concept, with questions you can carry into a build or development video.

Think in needs, then in jobs

A useful way to read a colony game is to separate the need from the action. Hunger is a need; gathering or producing food is a response. A home is an outcome; deciding who builds it is a work-allocation question.

That distinction keeps the overview useful even when a key binding or recipe changes. The sequence below is our reading framework, not a tested opening route or a claim about a fixed in-game schedule.

SYSTEMS MAP

From a need to a decision

  1. 01

    Observe

Identify the need shown by the build or footage.

  2. 02

    Provide

Look for the resource or space that answers it.

  3. 03

    Assign

Compare doing the job with directing a worker.

  4. 04

    Reassess

Check whether the next bottleneck has moved.

The public reference shelf

These topic notes link to the source that establishes the feature or the relevant development post. A devlog topic is not a complete mechanic specification.

Shelter

Housing and delegated construction feature in the public description.

Food

Farming and hunting are described as ways to feed the family.

How to watch a devlog usefully

Record what the video actually shows: a command being given, a building appearing or a need changing. Keep your interpretation separate. A successful action once does not establish its cost, range, repeatability or late-game performance.

Compare the footage date with the version you have. If a guide does not identify a build, treat its precise controls and production advice as provisional.
